Charity information

The Official opening of the DEBRA Furniture and Electrical store in Southsea is on 1st February 2013.

When the store opened in November 2012, customers queued outside to be the first through the door to pick-up a bargain at the opening of the new DEBRA Furniture & Electrical Charity Superstore in Southsea. The opening day was full of surprises, with special guests from Portsmouth's history, including Henry VIII, from the Mary Rose Trust, who officially opened the store, a town crier and jugglers from the University of Portsmouth's Juggling Society who entertained shoppers. The new store at 51 Elm Grove, Southsea, Portsmouth will sell a wide selection of affordable, good quality used furniture and electrical items and will open Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Deborah Baber-Taylor, DEBRA Furniture and Electrical Store Manager said they were pleased with the first day's sales and the number of local people, DEBRA members, supporters and staff who turned out to wish them well. Debra said "If we can keep sales at this level we will be able to provide the recurring income needed to fund life changing research into treatments with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for EB". If you have any unwanted furniture or electrical goods you would like to donate to the store (free collection available) or a few hours you could spare volunteering, please call 02392 291574 or email
