About our company

Why should I use

  • We will pass on 100% of your agreed donation to the charity you choose.
  • We do not charge you any fees. 
  • We promise that there are no hidden costs to the donor (you) at all.
  • We have a long pedigree and one of the most experienced vehicle salvage/ breakers in the UK and we pride ourselves on our good track record.  
  • Our clients include reputable insurance companies and many of the local authorities.
  • We, between us, own the collection vehicles, and are the licensed ATF's (Automotive Treatment Facilities licensed by the Environment Agency) to dispose of "End of Life" vehicles.
  • We cut out the middle-man and we are the industry experts, running a professional and quality service. 


Who owns U Donate?

  • UDonateacar is hosted and run by Silverlake ( based in Hampshire.
  • A family firm established for over 60 years.
  • We coordinate the collection with selected and trusted partners within the UK.
  • Silverlake, in its own right, is one of the South's leading companies dealing with "End of Life" vehicles, total loss vehicles and recycled car parts.

Legal stuff:

  • Ideally we need to have receipt of the V5C document on collection to show proof of ownership.  Another form of ID such as MOT's, old tax discs, receipts for repairs etc.
  • In the event that vehicle is scrapped, we will advise the DVLA and issue a COD a Certificate of Destruction. 
  • In the event that we should sell the complete vehicle, we shall take responsibilty to advise the DVLA of the change of ownership. 
  • If you have a valid tax disc, keep it and reclaim the outstanding tax from the DVLA.

This is how it works!

  • Send us an email or give us a call on 01489 772245.
  • Have to hand your vehicle details, the make, model, year, mileage and reason for disposal, eg: MOT failure, broken down ,surplus, just to give us some idea !
  • If you believe your car is worth more than just the scrap value, please either email or send us your photos, we will be more that happy to give you a more informed value.
  • We will normally be able to give you a valuation straight away. Some vehicles may take longer depending on the vehicle. 
  • If you agree to the valuation, we will arrange collection of the vehicle within 3-5 working days, sooner if possible.  You will need to have available the V5C (see legal stuff) document for handover on collection.
  • Our promise to you is we give 100% of your donation to your chosen charity

What charities can I choose?

  • See our categories and a list of those charities we are supporting already
  • You can choose which ever charity you wish, so long as they are registered in the UK. However, please feel free to call us if you know of a fundraising body that we can support.  We will then organise the money you wish to donate to a bonafide charity of your choice.
  • Just complete the short form on our website and contact us if you have any query at all.
  • We will get back to you with a price and collection date by return.

How much will the charity get?

  • The charity will get 100% of the donation you make, be it 100%, 50%, 20%, whatever you choose and regardless of whether we scrap the vehicle,
  • recycle or sell it. On occasion, and regardless of the reason you need to dispose of the vehicle, your car could be worth more.  Therefore, to enable us to give you the best possible price, please speak to us and you and your charity could benefit  further. 
  • We don't charge administration or collection fees, your chosen charity gets the entire donation agreed by you.
  • If you would like to split to donation, just tell us who you would like to benefit and we will do the rest.

About collection process

  • If you agree to the valuation, we will arrange collection of the vehicle within 3-5 working days, sooner, where possible.
  • You will need to have available the V5C (log book) for handover on collection, and any keys you have.
  • We will arrange to collect your vehicle.
  • If you are donating all of the proceeds of the agreed value of your car, the Udonateacar office will send on your donation immediately.
  • If you choose to give a percentage to your charity, the driver will give you payment for the difference and the donation will be handled by the Udonate team who will send it directly to your chosen charity.  We will also give you a donation receipt at the time of collection. 
  • Once back at our office, we will arrange for the full agreed value of your donation to be paid to the charity in your name. We will send you an email that this has been done and request the charity to send you confirmation that they have received your kind donation.
